How it works
Turning a night out into questionable data.
Am I Sober Yet? uses the information you provide to create an educational estimate of alcohol concentration over time.
Enter your drinks
Search the drink database and add what you consumed. Each drink includes an estimated serving size and alcohol percentage.
Add the timing
Enter approximately when each drink was consumed. Timing matters because the model accounts for alcohol elimination over time.
Enter your information
Provide an estimated body weight and the biological-sex input used by the underlying BAC equation.
Review the estimate
The calculator generates an estimated BAC, estimated peak BAC, standard drinks, pure alcohol consumed, and a modeled timeline.
The model
A mathematical estimate, not a breathalyzer.
The calculator uses a simplified Widmark-style approach. Alcohol consumed is converted into an estimated blood alcohol concentration based on body weight, a body-water distribution factor, and an assumed elimination rate.
The result is inherently approximate. Real BAC depends on many factors that a website cannot accurately measure.
Conceptually
≈ alcohol consumed
÷ body-water distribution
− estimated elimination
The actual implementation contains additional conversions and assumptions.
Important limitations
There is a lot this calculator does not know.
The important part:
Never use this calculator as a green light to drive or as proof that you are sober. If alcohol is involved, arrange transportation without relying on a calculated BAC.
